Your
Shield of Love
"For
you bless the godly man, O Lord; you protect him with your shield
of love." ~
Psalm 5:12, TLB.
When
it appears an enemy will overrun us, we need protection. Not just
any protection but the big kind!
That's
what God promises to the godly man and woman. The big kind of protection
that surrounds us like a huge, impenetrable, prickly hedge. Nothing
gets through.
So
who are these godly men and women? They are those who belong to God.
They have admitted they are sinners and accepted Jesus' blood sacrifice
on the cross to pay the penalty for their sins. Now they live devoted
to God. As a result of his love for them, they love him and others
through what they choose to think, say and do. They make this world
a really good place.
Sounds
impossible? Not really. With the help of God's grace, being godly
is within the reach of any man, woman or child. Humble yourself and
ask God for that grace. He longs for you to be in a right relationship
with him. He longs to bless you as his loving child.
